17/06/09
Submitted my 3rd assignment today. An ad on Dim Sum for Spring Court. I handed in 2 days ahead of the dealine given as I can't think of anymore jus submit and save more time on the next assignment topic that I am going to work on.

19/06/09
Received my score of the 3rd assignment, not very good. Need to buck up more on the 4th assignment le! :(  Remarks and grading by my online lecturer :

You've got some ideas there but can be pushed further. There are too many dim sums hence the words are not very clear. Crafting wise can be improved to make it visually more appealing. You need to make the food look delicious enough for people to buy the product. The elements on the ad are too scattered. You need a key element to make the ad look more balanced and sturdy. I'm sure you can come up with a better ad! :) Grade: 15/20

26/06/09
Collected my certificate for Illustrator, hmmm.... worst mark I scored this round 71/100. Anyway must admit that I really weak in drawings. Haizzz... must really put in more effort in drawing le. Enrolled for my next module too starting on 16/07/2009.

02/07/09
Send in my 4th assignment today after WIll vet my writing.

03/07/09
Got my result for the 4th assignment... hmmm... jus managed to pass it. I already know I not going to do it well this assignment.. can't really think of something for this ad.. Haizzz... jus hopefully to get a pass for this module bah! Here the following remarks by my lecturer :

Not sure if you may have misunderstood the assignment - that is to create a witty and humorous ad? Perhaps you can go back and read the textbook on creating a humorous ad? Your effort is commendable. I can see that you have tried to make this ad work. However, you are trying too hard at the moment. The ad looks too cluttered with too many floating elements. A witty and humorous ad should make me laugh out loud and go "oh that's so smart!" This is very much lacking here. Perhaps you can try to run your ads by someone who is in your target market range for opinions next time. Informal feedback sometimes do help in the makings of better ads. Good try though, Penny! I hope you'll do better in your next assignment. :)

Grade: 5/10

17/07/09
End of my online course of this module .... yippy!! Send in my final project today. This round I really dun have high expectation on this. Hopefully will jus get a pass for this module. :)

22/07/09
Final 5th assignment result out today! Here the comment from my lecturer.

Good research and overview of organization. You have demonstrated clear understanding of organizational needs. Concepts make sense but are pretty raw. Execution can be improved in terms of attractiveness. It's been a pleasure having you in "class". Good try on the TV commercial.

Grade: 23/40

My Grades for this course : A1 (7)  A2 (18)  A3 (15)  A4 (5)  A5 (23) Total : 68/100 Average

Picked Will up at camp for his last week in Singapore before heading to Nepal for his training. On our way back via Mandai stopped by Upper Thomson Road. We had Yong Tau Fu again, this time we decided to try out the next shop which had a lesser crowd.

Ordered for a plate of Braised Duck Meat, a bowl of plain porridge, a plate of mixed Yong Tau Fu and 2 glass of barley drinks - $17.00. Will preferred this shop then the crowded 298 shop as the Yong Tau Fu pcs seem to be bigger. Tasted almost at par for both shop. The braised duck tasted normal, but I quite like the porridge they served ... very smooth not too thick for my liking ..... yummy .....  :)

Durian Lingers
212 / 214 Joo Chiat Place

Suddenly I had crave for Durians! So instead of having dinner I want to have a Durian Feast. I love durians, but really can't take it often due to acne outbreak. Chose to go try the Durian Lingers at Joo Chiat as we passed by that day as it has complimentary parking jus beside the shop. Was quite surprised to find out that they have a very modern internal decor, with Airconditioning....!

They have few Category of durians, 包吃和包好吃..!! So what's the difference? Basically means those that sell by number or by weight. We chose to go for their cheapest, which is 3 for $20. Ordered 3 first and found them all tasted nice, with 1 even bit of bitter type..!! In the end ordered another 3 and still manage to finish all..!!! haha...

Will also bought 1kg of mangosteens and all were sweet and juicy. We top everything off with an ice-cold-Thai-Coconut to relieve the heatiness..!! hee...

Their durians also sold in pre-packed boxes, $10 per durian and by weight, with the highest grade at $25/kg. Besides durians they also sell wide variety of tropical fruits such as mango, papaya, watermelon, jackfruit, strawberries and even fresh cherries..!! They even have a VIP room available for booking for special function...!

hmm, too bad we cant take durian so often, so hope they will still be around the next time I intend to have another Durian Feast again...!! haha...

This year my whole family became Christian included my demised Dad. As Will having leave for this week, we decided to have a Christmas Eve dinner at my Mom's place. I had a sudden craving for Turkey and found out from some reviews that the ones from Cold Storage are quite tender and not too dry.

Left home ard 5pm to Eastwood Cold Storage for the collection of the Roast Turkey which I had ordered last Sat. Had also bought some ham, sauces, wraps and drinks at the same time. Will requested Mom to cook his fav mixed veg stew and mom prepared a very big pot for him! haha...

Although we ordered the smallest size bird, it was still too big for 5 of us to finish. Mom cut half and we brought it back home for my MIL. The Turkey tasted better then we expected, everyone was thumbs up for it. The meat sauce and chestnut stuffing went well with the Turkey.

Mom's Dish - Mixed Veg Stew consist of white cabbage, glass noodles, beancurd skin, black fungus, pig skin & carrot,  stew with fermented beancurd.

Stayed till abt 1am when Will's lappy went flat den decided to pack up and go home. What a sinful day!.. Ho Ho Ho... Merry X'mas!!!!

What impressed us was their tea selection counter. Neatly arranged cozy tea selection counter with over 10 choices of tea from Taylors of Harrogate in tea bags and loose tea leaves. Given up my coffee addiction right on the spot wanting to sample those teas. :)  Chosen China Rose Petal Leaf Tea for my tea for the meal. Tasted mellow, sweet-tasting tea with a wonderfully rose perfumed aroma. Goes well cakes and pastries for this afternoon high tea. For those interested on their tea range here their webby : http://www.taylorsofharrogate.co.uk/

The mini eggs tarts tasted good and crispy and all time favourite kueh lapis...yum yum!

They were quite nice, din chase us away even their spread ended at 4.30pm, we continued our tea session till 5.30pm. Total bill $112.99 after the discount for 4 of us. Definitely a nice and good place to chill out for a weekend afternoon with friends.

Claypot Chicken Rice
Blk 119 Geylang East Central
Coffee shop next to Geylang East Polyclinic

This have been my fav claypot chicken rice for years! But last nite dinner bit disappointing. The coffeeshop just renovated, price increased and something I loved missing from the pot of rice!!

Having a plate of Mua Chee $2 per plate while waiting for the claypot rice. This a new stall over at this coffee shop, first time I find mua chee with black sesame seed, tasted not bad.

Here the pic of the claypot chicken rice, price increased till $5 per pot for the smallest order. What so special about this stall, the wait - 1hr as they were cooked over charcoal in claypot once upon ordering. What was missing the pot?? A salted egg yolk, they used to have one in the clapot this round no more!!

Haizzz think must request them to add in next round with additional charges for it! Portion wise still the same, but last nite they put in too much oil, its became too oily! Both of us managed to finish only half of it.

We love the soup over at this stall. Their speciality soup double boiled soup with chicken feet. Last nite soup was Double Boiled Chicken Feet with red beans and peanuts.

Here the generous serving of ingredients in the soup, the chicken feet, dried cuttlefish, red beans, peanuts and garlic in bulbs. ($3 for a big bowl)

Finally washed everything down with a glass of iced cold lemon tea ($1.20)!

Told Will if we coming back again next time, we will double confirm the salted egg and tell them not to put in too much oil for our pot. :)

for everyone

Bought this yesterday, $1.74 for 6 pcs for the leftover curry that MIL made. Another recommendation to go with home cook curry beside common bread & rice. There are 2 flavours the spring onion and the plain, for me I got the plain cos dislike spring onion. :)

Quite easy to cook. Each piece of raw flat flour dough individually packed between 2 sheets of clear plastic, make it quite easy to separate them. No defrosting needed, need no oil, just need to heat it up on the non stick pan till golden brown for both sides using medium low fire. It only takes less than 5mins to cook.

Heating the Roti Prata on the non stick pan.

Heated up some leftover Chicken Curry.

That's my lunch for today! Yum yum.....

The Roti Prata tasted quite light and crispy, not oily just nice to my liking. Planning to get some hotdogs and sliced cheese to make those Sausage Prata that selling in some shopping centre. Maybe can add a beaten egg when cooking the prata too! :)

928 (Hakka) Ampang Yong Tou Fou
928 Upper Thomson Road

Went here for lunch after installing Papa's Urn at Mandai Columbrarium. This shop is located along Upper Thomson Road just before turning into Mandai Road. As my 3rd Sis was on half day fasting, we ordered for a mixed plate for 4 person and a shrimp dumpling soup. As for the Drinks - a cup of kopi and 3 glasses of cold barley. Total we paid for $19.00

The mixed plate Yong Tou Fou was served with a bed of boiled Kang Kong and with lotsa of starchy sauce over it. The filling of this Hakka Yong Tau Fou are mixture of fish paste and pork.  Among the types of Yong Tou Fou in the plate, the deep fried beancurd tasted the best. Very crispy bit salty we all loved it! Mom commented that some salted fish was added in the paste. Portion wise just nice for 4 of us. In this shop they only served rice to go along with the Yong Tou Fou.

We find the shrimp dumpling soup bit disappointing, the clear soup tasted quite ok but the dumpling skin bit thick and the fillings were too little. Anyway we did enjoyed this lunch with my family, there few lots more coffeeshop along this stretch. We will soon to patron them when we come to visit Papa again.
